AMANDA – “Those we were to serve, served us!”
A Voice of Care volunteer-staffed Special Needs Camp at Walcamp during Advent took on a special holiday flavor as campers learned the Bible stories leading up to and including the birth of Christ.
Pastor Paul Klopke made Zechariah, Elizabeth, and John come alive with the help of puppets. The campers reenacted the first Christmas playing the roles of Mary and Joseph, the shepherds and angels, and even some of the animals. No one nearby could have missed the Good News about Jesus our Lord and Savior as the angels shouted out that “Christ is born!” The time of learning and celebration included games, holiday crafts, Christmas cookie decorating, and a bowling outing. This winter camp was an uplifting time for both participants and staff, as volunteer Amanda shared, “Those we were there to serve, truly ended up serving us!” |
