Our Story
This spiritual care and chaplaincy ministry for persons developmentally disabled and those who care for them was established in 1976 by the Northern Illinois District of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. It now seeks to continue and grow in service at community residential and day program sites, at congregations, at Walcamp’s Special Needs HandyCamp program and at training and support events. Voice of Care relies on the support of congregations, service groups and individuals who value this outreach to people who have developmental disabilities.
We believe that the support for continuing Voice of Care as a ministry agency will especially come as members of our congregations become actively involved in such direct service and friendship with persons with disabilites.
