About Us
Mission Statement:
To enable the church in serving Christ to do ministry with persons developmentally challenged and those who care for them within congregations, homes, residential facilities and communities. Seeking with them our Lord’s good plan for them and enabling their full participation in the Body of Christ.
Core Values
Value #1- Individual Worth – Every individual regardless of ability is precious and important to God and Voice of Care. Why? We are all created in God’s image and God has commanded us to love one another. God does not make Junk! God sent His son Jesus to redeem everyone.
Value #2 – Bible Based – As Lutherans and members of the Missouri Synod, we accept the Holy Scriptures as the divinely inspired Word of God. The central message of the bible is God’s grace in the ministry of Jesus Christ. Why? He came into the world to serve, not to be served. He looked on the crowd and had compassion on them. Responding to God’s grace, we seek to perpetuate the servant ministry of Jesus Christ, working with Developmentally Disabled.
Value #3 – Congregations – We value what the gathering of believers brings to lives of people with disabilities, caregivers and the rest of the congregation. Why? For the vast majority of believers, local congregations provide the best opportunity to recognize all people, disabled or not, as significant parts of the body of Christ. Congregations provide the best opportunity to interact in precious fellowship, worshiping, learning and serving others in Christ.
Value #4 – Corporate Worship – We value corporate worship that is inclusive and accessible as significant events for persons with developmental disabilities.
Why? In a residential facility or a local congregation individuals can grow spiritually in their relationship with their Lord. They can contribute and exercise their spiritual gifts to praise and give glory to God. This experience of corporate worship is also a time where they can give, receive and grow in their understanding of being part of the body of Christ in this world. We value corporate worship for the persons with developmental disabilities because it affects them not only spiritually but wholistically in all areas of their life.
Value #5 – Christian Education – We value Christian Education for our people with disabilities and their caregivers. Why? Christian Education, the study of God’s Word, is fundamental for every Christian and makes us wise unto salvation through faith which is in Jesus Christ, and it trains us in holy living.
Value #6 – Forgiveness – People Developmentally Disabled need Christ’s Forgiveness and Salvation. Why? All people, including those with disabilities, are born trapped in sin, and have sin in their lives, so all need the release from that sin. In this sinful state those with developmental disabilities need the forgiveness that only the Risen Jesus Christ provides.
